Malibu Rider Experience F.A.Q.

What is Shreddin’ Saturdays & how does it work?

Shreddin’ Saturday’s is just what it sounds like, a Saturday for shredding on the water! You can make this day whatever you’d like:

-Never gotten up on the water before and want to learn?

-Already know how to ride but want to demo some new equipment?

-Curious about the latest Malibu Noats models?

-Want to learn how to set your boat up?

-Want to get familiar with the wake before the Regional Championship

-An opportunity to finally stick that trick you’ve been working on with instructions from the pros.

This day is truly whatever you want it to be. If you’re entering into the Regional championships, access to this day is included in your entry fee. If you want to do Shreddin’ Saturday a la carte, that’s $35

We schedule out the demos on Shreddin’ Saturday to be first come, first served. We’ll have two boats running. Each rider gets about 10-15 minutes on the water. The time each boat load will be out varies pending the number of riders on board. New for this season, you can go ahead and reserve your demo spot online here. Note that if you miss you’re scheduled time we’ll do our best to fit you in the next available time slot.

If you have parents or friends that want to ride along with you, we allow that free of charge based on space available, they’ll just need to sign a waiver on site.

*Note, Freeride Friday & Shreddin’ Saturdays are the same event, the only difference is the day they’re taking place on.

What is the Regional Championships? Who can enter?

Don’t let the name of the event intimidate you! This is a grassroots amateur event, anyone is eligible to enter. We’ve got divisions for both wakeboard, Wakeskate, adaptive and wakesurf. Each year without fail we see this event be the very first contest ever for many, many competitors!!

If you’re looking to qualify for Nationals, you must do that through your respective region which you can find here, however you’re able to ride for fun in all of the Regional Championship events.

How do I know if I’m good enough to compete?

Without a doubt you’re good enough to get out there! Multiple times we’ve seen riders learn on Shreddin’ Saturday and love it so much they enter their first contest the following day! These contests are about getting out on the water together and having FUN. If you’re willing to get out on the water and have fun, you’re good enough. We see a little bit of all ability levels at each and every event – which is one of the things we love so much about these. We invite you to enter and join us on the water!!

How do I know what division to enter?

For wakeboarding, our divisions are divided up by age and gender. Each division goes off of the rider’s age as of January 1st so you don’t need to change divisions mid-season.

For a few divisions you’ll notice a “beginner” option, those divisions allow all 180’s but no inverts or 360s. Outside of that, divisions are anything goes – total freedom out there on the water.

For wakesurf, we’ve got divisions divided by gender. Pending the number of entries, we will divide these up further by age. The age will be as of January 1st.

For all divisions, we reserve the right to combine divisions based on the number of entries.

The majority of our divisions are not skilled based, so anything goes, however, we see a wide range of skill levels. It is not uncommon for each event to host a rider in their first contest.

If you have any questions regarding what to enter, just email us! info@thewwa.com

Do I bring my own equipment?

Yes, you can bring all of your own gear – board, rope, vest. We provide the Malibu Boat to get behind. Of course if you want to demo anything new, our event partners Hyperlite & Liquid Force will have a selection of gear to demo on site.

What does it cost to enter?

If you just want to enter Shreddin’ Saturdays, the cost is $35.

If you want to join us for the ALL the weekend has to offer (Shreddin Saturday, Judges Experience, Regional Championships) that’s all included in the Regional Championships entry fee of $100. A WWA Membership is required to enter the contest, you’ve got the option for a one event membership or an Annual Membership if you plan to compete more. (Note – an Annual WWA Membership is required to compete in the WWA National or World Championships)

Do we need tickets to watch the event?

No tickets required to come out and watch all of the action on the water – in fact, we encourage you to join us for this! *Parking or park entrance fees may apply where applicable.

Does the WWA have Membership numbers?

The WWA does not have Member numbers. If ever needed, you can use your receipt where you purchased your membership as proof, however, all of our event organizers are provided an up-to-date membership list and should have record.

Will the event be live-streamed?

The Malibu Rider Experience events will not be live streamed, however, you can follow along for live scoring in our WWA Rideline app throughout the contest. Following the contest, we’ll have each competitor’s run loaded into their WWA Rideline app profile as soon as possible. For more info on claiming your WWA Rideline profile click here.
