TEAM OWC (ORLANDO WATERSPORTS COMPLEX) WINS 6th CONSECUTIVE NATIONAL TITLE

WACO, TX (August 17, 2020) – Team OWC claimed its sixth overall traditional national title at the 2020 Nautique WWA (World Wake Association) Wake Park National Championships. Wakeboard teams from across the country competed at the event which took place on August 5-9 at BSR Cable Park in Waco, Texas.

Not only did they bring home the overall traditional title, Team OWC had 19 podium finishes and eight gold medals amongst their 27-person team. The team also helped riders off the water during competition. Their overall team comradery was phenomenal and there was an enormous amount of help from parents including a chef, nurse, scheduler, and others ready to help the team excel.

“Team OWC was exploding with team spirit that included top notch parental help and support,” Team OWC Coach, Shannon Stuckey stated. “Our talented team of wakeboarders left with so many great memories! It was such an amazing experience to be a part of a talented group of wakeboarders. We are so thankful for everything this sport has brought to us and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

Many new riders joined the team this year including, Isiac Claudio winning a national title in the novice division, who just started riding and competing over the past year. His family loaded up a 16-passenger van and immersed themselves in every aspect of the competition, helping others along the way.

The two Stuckey brothers locked in the 2nd and 3rd placement in their first ever appearance in the pro division. It was an emotional experience for the two of them competing against their lifelong wakeboard heroes.

Aktion Parks Director of Operations, Kellan Rudnicki stated, “I am very proud of our team for winning their 6th consecutive title during the Nautique WWA Wake Park Nationals. It was great seeing all the new riders joining our team and becoming part of the OWC family.”

Bill Yeargin, CEO of Correct Craft (Owner of Aktion Parks) stated, “I am thrilled to see Team OWC take home yet another title. In addition to their hard work, it’s their comradery and encouraging team atmosphere that makes this team special.”

Yeargin added, “A special thanks to Team Coach, Shannon Stuckey. I have known Shannon for several years and she is not only an amazing mom to her two boys, but also lots of other kids who spend time at OWC. We are all blessed to have Shannon in our lives!”

Next stop, you can find Team OWC competing at the Nautique WWA Wake Park World Series in Valdosta, Georgia in September.

Orlando Watersports Complex hosts a world-class cables, boat lake, Aquapark and Dockside Grill. With its state-of-the-art Nautique Boats and equipment from Hyperlite, OWC is the best place to ride. Placement for Team OWC at the 2020 Nautique WWA Wake Park National Championships goes as follows:

While wakeboarding is an individual sport and the decision to compete is an individual decision, we are also a wake community and a community that we will continue to stand by and put forth every effort to ensure we produce events with the athlete in mind. We are looking forward to seeing those who are able to make it the end of this month and everyone else next year. As always please continue to stay safe during these times.”
