RIDERS IN EVERY DIVISION THROW DOWN AT MALIBU RIDER EXPERIENCE SOUTH AND WAKEFEST TENNESSEE

RIDERS IN EVERY DIVISION THROW DOWN AT MALIBU RIDER EXPERIENCE SOUTH AND WAKEFEST TENNESSEE

SMITHVILLE, TN (July 24, 2020) – The Malibu WWA Rider Experience South joined forces with host dealer TNT Watersports’ infamous Wakefest Tennessee on Center Hill Lake for a weekend of non-stop action and incredible performances across every division. Enhancing this legendary weekend in wake, riders and Malibu Pro athletes took to the water on Friday to shred behind the Malibu Wakesetter line of boats for a chance to learn new tips and prepare for the upcoming rounds of competition. The level of riding seen on Saturday and Sunday displayed ultimate levels of progression from the amateurs and pros with cheers and new levels of stoke echoing up and down the lake.

Friday set the pace for the good times that were had all weekend long with plenty of smiles and fist bumps to go around on every boat. Riders threw down in front of the massive tie-up on Saturday putting on a show and looking for a chance to qualify for the upcoming WWA Wakeboard National Championships. Southeast native Graham Davidson laid it down for the crowd in the Grom’s division throwing multiple airs for the heat winning score of 80.00. In the Junior’s division David Mobley threw a huge 2 wake 180 to earn his first place finish and a score of 60.00. Brantley Mullins claimed the top spot in the Women’s division earning a 80.00 score upon locking in multiple clean spins.  Noah Wildman claimed the top spot in the third stop of the Malibu Jr. Pro Series with an 85.00 followed by Jamie Huser in second with a score of 73.33 and Thomas Herman rounding out the podium with a 65.00 in third.

The Intermediate division got things going on Sunday with Adam Conatser clinching the win with a backroll and shifty air for a score of 70.00, just head of River Mayo in second with 60.00 points. Noah Wildman showed up yet again to take the win in the Outlaw division putting on a jaw dropping performance with textbook tech tricks for a score of 80.00. Sunday’s Shootout brought some of the best riders to Tennessee giving all the amateurs a unique show of inspiration and motivation from some of wake’s elite. Annihilating the wake of the Malibu M240, Nic Rapa had the crowd going wild laying down multiple spins and a massive double backroll to lock up the top spot and gigantic payout this event is known for.

ENTRY DEADLINES AND FORMAT UPDATES ANNOUNCED FOR 2020 NAUTIQUE WWA WAKE PARK NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

ENTRY DEADLINES AND FORMAT UPDATES ANNOUNCED FOR 2020 NAUTIQUE WWA WAKE PARK NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
ORLANDO, FL (July 15, 2020)– In response to the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and its widespread impacts across the nation, the World Wake Association (WWA) and Nautique Boat Company have made several modifications to the event format and will be capping entries for the 2020 Nautique WWA Wake Park National Championships. This decision was made to create greater accessibility for interested riders for this year’s event due to the park and water access restrictions in some areas. In addition to the adjustments as an effect of the COVID-19 pandemic and in standing behind the rider’s requests, the WWA has also decided to bring back the LCQ rounds for this year’s event.

In an effort to adhere to local, state and CDC guidelines this event will be capped and filled on a first come, first serve basis. Riders looking to compete at the 2020 Nautique WWA Wake Park National Championships  will be able to register and compete individually. Riders that have elected to qualify for Nationals through a Points Chase park qualifier and are competing with a team will get a buy, providing them the opportunity to bypass the first qualifying rounds of competition. Riders who have competed in a Points Chase event this year will also have registration priority ahead of those who haven’t until Wednesday, July 22nd at 5pm EST. After 5pm EST on July 22nd the event will be filled on a first come, first serve basis regardless of whether or not the rider competed in a 2020 Points Chase event. This event will hit capacity and riders are encouraged to register by following this link thewwa.com/wakeparknationals.  The entry caps and the cut off dates for this event will be strictly implemented.

In order to support parks that have gotten a late start due to opening restrictions, a new scoring parameter has also been put into place for this year as only the top three scores from each park will be counted for team scoring in each division. Parks are still highly encouraged to bring a larger team, however, please keep in mind only the top three scores will count for this year’s team scoring.

“Adjusting the qualification measures and scoring rules for this year’s National Championships opens up the opportunity for more riders to now compete amidst any issues they’ve had getting on the water due to restrictions or limited access to local events. This year has been unlike anything we’ve seen before and it’s important to the WWA and our partners that everyone is given fair opportunity to participate in these unprecedented times,” commented WWA Executive Director Corrie Wilson. “We so appreciate everyone’s flexibility and patience these last few months and we can’t wait to see everyone at BSR in August! Socially distanced of course!”

All events currently laid out on the event schedule are set to happen as planned and competitors and families will be notified immediately of any event changes. In an effort to continue minimizing the spread of COVID-19 while in consideration for the health and safety of the riders, families, and staff, social distancing guidelines will be implemented at all WWA events. The WWA will ensure these procedures adhere to and operate in compliance with the most recent state and CDC guidelines. Those traveling to the event are also encouraged to take the appropriate steps to preventing COVID-19 while traveling. In an effort to continue minimizing the spread of COVID-19 while in consideration for the health and safety of the riders, families, and staff, social distancing guidelines will be implemented at all WWA events. MALIBU RIDER EXPERIENCE WEST TO MOVE LOCATION DUE TO STATEWIDE RESTRICTIONS IN UTAH

ORLANDO, FL (July 8th, 2020) – As a result of the ongoing effects of COVID-19 the state of Utah has issued a statewide mandate restricting events from happening until further notice. Adhering to the governor’s recent request the World Wake Association (WWA) and Malibu Boats made the decision to move the Malibu Rider Experience West, originally scheduled to take place at the Quail Creek Reservoir in Hurricane, UT.  This final stop to the 2020 Malibu Rider Experience Series will now take place July 31st – August 1st in Caldwell, ID at Broadside Harbor Ski Lakes with host dealer Idaho Watersports. This two-day stop will kick off the weekend with Freeride Friday before heading into Saturday’s Regional Championships.

A specific plan detailing out any new measures will be posted by the WWA ahead of this final stop to the Malibu Rider Experience Series and will go into effect immediately.

Due to the current restrictions in place as a result of COVID-19 the 2020 WWA Wakeboard National Championships will have capped entries for this year and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. There will be no priority of entry into the Nationals based on previous placement or WWA competition history, the only registration priority will be given to athletes who have competed in their respective WWA Regional Championship for this year. All athletes competing in their respective WWA Regional Championship will be able to register for Nationals regardless of their regionals placement and will receive higher seeding in the preliminary rounds of competition. Athletes who register for Nationals without placement from a regional qualifier will receive lower seeding in the first rounds of competition, if and when entry spots become available.

Since 2013 the Malibu Rider Experience has hosted thousands of riders from first-timers to those making the transition to pro, while building local and national wake communities that fully encompass the spectrum of the sport that makes wake unlike anything it’s path. The first day of Rider Experience West will take place on Friday with ‘Freeride Friday’ featuring freeriding for wakeboarding and wakesurfing, product demos, instruction from Malibu Pro athletes and a Judges Experience. This fully inclusive day in all things wake will provide the opportunity for the entire family, friends and neighbors alike to familiarize themselves with the course, receive tips on the water and in the boat, and test out the industry’s latest products. The WWA Regional Championships and Pro Card Qualifiers will be held on Saturday giving amateur riders the chance to compete with riders in their region and qualify for the WWA Wakeboard National Championships and aspiring pro’s the opportunity to earn professional status. Pulled by the Malibu Wakesetter Series, riders can expect to see new locations, new gear to demo and of course everyone’s favorite main event, the Jr. Pro Series! Information and registration can be found by visiting TheWWA.com/RiderExperience.

All riders must hold a current WWA Pro Card in order to register in the pro division at any WWA wakeboard event. The top 15 riders on the 2019 WWA Wakeboard World Rankings list will retain their Pro Card for the 2020 season. All other riders must obtain their Pro Card at one of six qualifying events.
