The Nautique Wake Series and WWA Wakeboard World Series will once again kick off the 2019 season with the 59th Nautique Moomba Masters International Invitational Championships on the Yarra River in Melbourne, Australia.

Riders who are interested in the opportunity to become a part of history at the most spectated watersports event on the planet are invited to register the “Intent to Enter” before December 31, 2018. Official invitations will be distributed to the selected riders during the first week of February 2019.

NBC SPORTS TO BROADCAST NAUTIQUE WWA WAKEBOARD WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS PRESENTED BY ROCKSTAR ENERGY ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 11th AT 3:30 P.M. EST

The epic four-day event in Miyoshi City, Tokushima, Japan featured riders representing more than 30 countries from across the globe, giving it their all to be crowned the 2018 WWA Wakeboard World Champions. The Nautique WWA Wakeboard World Championships presented by Rockstar Energy will premiere Sunday, November 11th at 3:30 p.m. EST on NBC Sports Network.

The Super Air Nautique G23 pulled the world’s greatest to victory at the 2018 Nautique WWA Wakeboard World Championships presented by Rockstar Energy. With World titles, Wakeboard World Series, and Nautique Wake Series overall titles on the line, the competition was filled with incredible moments on beautiful Ikeda Lake in Miyoshi City, Japan.

A massive field of riders made their way to Japan from all parts of the world including Paraguay, Indonesia, USA, Italy, and more. These riders brought the heat with stellar performances and many first-time World title finishes. Team Nautique athlete, Meagan Ethell (USA) put together an all-time performance on the water, securing her 2018 World title, WWA Wakeboard World Series (WBWS) and Nautique Wake Series overall titles.

Harley Clifford (AUS) proved that under pressure and as a true champion he was able to put together everything it takes to bring it home. Clifford stole the show with with a double indy tantrum and KGB to the flats to not only capture the 2018 World title, but to also secure yet another WWA WBWS and Nautique Wake Series overall titles.

The Nautique WWA Wakeboard World Championships presented by Rockstar Energy served as the final stop of the WWA Wakeboard World Series and the Nautique Wake Series, making this the pinnacle event of the season. GUENTHER OKA AND JULIA RICK CLAIM DUAL WORLD TITLES AT THE 2018 WWA WAKE PARK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS PRESENTED BY NAUTIQUE BOATS

Playa del Carmen, Mexico (November 5, 2018) – The Mayan Water Complex proved to be the absolute perfect destination for the 2018 WWA Wake Park World Championships presented by Nautique Boats, with riders already gearing up to come back in 2019. The final day of action showcased use of every feature to its full potential, leaving no question that Mayan remains host to some of the most amazing riding in the world. Gorgeous weather of the tropics kept the action moving all day long as the world’s best threw down in the most epic final showdowns.

Cole Kraiss (USA) killed it for his first ever win in the Pro Wakeskate division, closing out his inventive and well put together run with a H/S shuv straight into the kicker followed by a switch H/S 360 off the kicker for 95.00 points. Andrew Pastura (USA) hit a clean line of a F/S shuv to kick flip to F/S big spin for a second place finish of 92.00, followed by Sam Langley (USA) in third with a 70.00 point score.

“Coming out to Mexico to compete in the World Championships has been an awesome experience and winning the Pro Wakeskate division this morning made it that much better, said 2018 Wakeskate World Champion Cole Kraiss. “All the boys gave it their all this morning and I can’t wait to get back on the water. Cheers!”

Taking the Men’s Traditional win, Fidel Magdalena (MEX) threw a T/S B/S 720 off the kicker for his winning score of 93.30. Bruno Ulott (BRA) came up in second going super technical on all the rails scoring 89.00, just ahead of Sandro Furtado Brlenic (SWE) with 87.70.

The Boys Traditional division put up a good fight on the final day of competition with Brett Powell (USA) coming away with the 2018 World title. Brett threw down with an S mobe off the flats and a T/S B/S 720 for a winning score of 94.10. Following in second, Axel Paget (FRA) gave it his all and showed total composition in the entire heat to earn a final score of 91.50, followed by Lukas Flahaut (FRA) in third with 79.40.

Albin Randow (SWE) came away with the Jr. Men World title throwing his signature nose grab moby dick and a super clean 90210 in the flats for a 93.10 total score. Gavin Giglio (USA) landed a massive H/S 900 off the kicker to earn the second place spot with 88.40, followed by Parker Swope (USA) who took third with a 79.40.

Aaron Cutler took the Adaptive Standing World title, making WWA History by being the very first adaptive athlete to land a crow mobe at a WWA Wake Park event earning him a huge 100.00 point final score and claiming the 2018 World title. It is moments like these that highlight the true progression in wake and an athlete’s constant pursuit to push beyond what’s ever been done.

Defending Champ Julia Rick (GER) showed off her consistent, dominating performances in the Pro Women’s Traditional final earning herself her sixth WWA World title. She went on to land a solid T/S B/S 720 and a trail grab front to blind in the flats for a final score of 95.40 solidifying herself as the best female wakeboarder in the world. Anna Nikstad (USA), another phenomenal female athlete and carrying one of the most stylish and technical rail games in the business, was on Julia’s heels with a second place finish of 87.60, followed by Jamie Lopina (USA) in third with 79.10.

Ethan Bertogal (FRA) took the Jr. Boys Traditional title with a switch T/S 540 to complete the win with a 91.90 final score. Gavin Doody (USA) came in second with 89.20, followed closely by Jamie Wilson (GBR) with 88.90. The Jr. Women Traditional division witnessed some of the best riding from Orlando Watersports Complex rider, Piper Harris (USA) who claimed her World title after an unstoppable performance that included a huge mute krypt off the flats for a winning score of 94.00.  Eira Jansson (SWE) showed off a style unique to her own for a second place finish of 88.90, followed by Melanie Staaf (SWE) rounding out the podium in third with 83.60.

In the Open Women Features final, Piper Harris (USA) claimed yet another World title for the weekend excelling on all the rails and throwing a mute H/S 540 off the kicker for a 94.10. Rounding out the podium, Arianna Cau (ITA) took second with 91.30, followed by Eira Jansson (SWE) in third with 94.60.  Bruno Ulott (BRA) owned the top spot in the Open Features final absolutely destroying the transfer box with F/S 450 transfer F/S 270 out to score 92.70. Gavin Giglio (USA) smashed the kickers, placing him in second with 90.50, followed by Sandro Furtado Brlenic (SWE) with a score of 85.40.

More history made in the Pro Women Features final with Julia Rick (GBR) throwing the first ever T/S B/S 900 by a woman in a WWA Wake Park World Championship and securing her second World title take down of the weekend. Julia went on to stomp out a B/S 360 transfer on the bartender to F/S 360 for her final score of 93.30.  Anna Nikstad (USA) showed off her style on every feature landing a H/S B/S 450 transfer to B/S 90 out on the cnb rail for a second place finish of 91.30, followed by Jamie Lopina (USA) in third with 85.40.

“My goal was to come out here to win, so finishing up a very busy season with the two spots at the WWA Wake Park World Championship is an incredible feeling,” commented Ronix rider Julia Rick. “It was an amazing event and thank you so much to the WWA and Mayan Water Complex for hosting of all of us!”

Guenther Oka (USA) lit the Mayan Water Complex on fire claiming 3X World titles in both the Pro Men Traditional and Pro Men Features divisions, and tightening his grip on the WWA Wake Park World Series (WPWS) overall title reign. In the Traditional final, Guenther utilized his diverse skill set to drop hammers in every part of the course earning his 96.50 score with his back mobe 540 off the flats and massive grabbed T/S B/S 900 off the kicker. Timo Kapl (AUT) made it a close match throwing the biggest crow mobe in the flats of the weekend for a score of 88.50, followed by Dominik Guehrs (GER) rounding out the podium with 82.50.  The Features final had the crowd going wild, truly testing the athlete’s style, strategy and composure throughout the entire heat. Guenther rose to the top with a perfect 100.00 score locking in a textbook grabbed H/S B/S 900 off the kicker and annihilating a B/S 180 on to 50/50 across the flat bar to 360 off. Bene Tremmel (GER) executed a T/S B/S 270 on to front board 90 out on the cnb rail taking second with 82.80, followed by Jamie Neville (AUS) with 79.90.

“Claiming the World titles three times in a row has been a goal of mine and I’ve been working so hard to make it all happen. It’s an incredible feeling to see it all come together this year,” commented 3X World Champion, Guenther Oka.  “It’s been awesome traveling around with the WWA this season, going to all of the amazing new places and meeting so many new riders. One of the sickest parts about the WPWS has been meeting the younger riders, who are pushing the sport and have been hot on our tails at every event. I’m already looking forward to next year!”

The Orlando Watersports Complex (OWC) cleaned house winning the 2018 Overall Team World titles in both Traditional and Features Only divisions, followed closely by Mayan Water Complex in second in both divisions. Wake Nation Houston took third in Traditional and What Wake Park in third for Features.

The 2018 WWA Wake Park World Championships was the fourth and final stop of the WWA Wake Park World Series (WPWS), held at the tropical paradise of the beautiful Mayan Water Complex. The 2019 WWA Wake Park World Championships presented by Nautique Boats will return to the Mayan Water Complex in celebration of the WWA’s 30th year anniversary and combination with the 2019 Nautique WWA Wakeboard World Championships presented by Rockstar Energy for a dual-action global phenomenon October 2019.

MAYAN WATER COMPLEX HOSTS EPIC PERFORMANCES ON DAY TWO OF THE 2018 WWA WAKE PARK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS PRESENTED BY NAUTIQUE BOATS

Playa del Carmen, Mexico (November 3, 2018) – Battles of global proportions highlighted day two of the WWA Wake Park World Championships presented by Nautique Boats at the Mayan Water Complex. First off the dock, the Pro Men Traditional quarterfinal round set the bar at an all-time high with the momentum carrying on throughout the day and into the afternoon’s semifinal rounds. The Mayan Water Complex has been host to multiple WWA events combined with competition firsts, upsets and swings on the leaderboard ensuring wake’s athletes always deliver their best performances and creativity when in Mexico. Sunday’s final rounds are stacked like never before, with a day of non-stop action bringing riders one step closer to becoming the 2018 WWA World Champions and WWA WPWS Overall Champions.

Adaptive competitor, Aaron Cutler (USA) put down a massive performance in the Masters Features semifinal taking down heat one with a final score of 94.80. Aaron threw a huge wrapped H/S B/S 360 off the inside kicker, paired with his signature H/S F/S 540 off the outside kicker. Dayle Cartwright (USA) took second place and advancing to finals with 90.60. Robin Leonard Jensen (DEN) crushed it for the win in heat two with a T/S 720 for a 100.00 point score, followed by Andreas Voss (GER) in second with 90.00.

“I couldn’t be more excited to do so well in a non-adaptive division today at the WWA Wake Park World Championships presented by Nautique Boats,” commented Masters semifinal heat winner, Aaron Cutler (USA). “My hope is that moving into finals, I can show other adaptive athletes what’s possible. I’m looking forward to seeing what Sunday has in store for us!”

Brett Powell (USA) had the top score in both his Junior Features quarterfinal and semifinal heats with a clean T/S B/S 900 and H/S B/S 900 in semifinal heat one for a final score of 98.60, followed by Barrett Swope (USA) in second with 89.30. Liam Brearley (CDN) has a unique style of his own that put him in the number one spot in heat two destroying the rails with creative lines for a score of 98.60. Parker Swope (USA) came in second in heat two and also advancing to the finals with a score of 89.50.

Ronix rider Jamie Lopina (USA) took down the Pro Women’s Features Only semifinal heat one with multiple technical rail hits on the transfer box to score 96.00. Julia Rick (GER) maintained her dominance with a heat two win, landing a T/S B/S 720 for a final score of 98.00. Although she didn’t quite have enough to make it into Sunday’s final round, Chelsea Ann Foy (MEX) rode her heart out and threw the first ever Crowmobe 540 by a woman at a WWA Wake Park event. Defending Features World Champion Anna Nikstad (USA) won heat three with a massive Pete Rose for a perfect final score of 100.00.

The Pro Men Features Only semifinal was nothing short of amazing with Bene Tremmel (GER) sticking a huge T/S B/S 1080 to score 92.70 points for the win in heat one. Winning heat two, Albin Randow (SWE) put down a moby dick 540 to take the top spot with 95.40 points. Defending World Champion Guenther Oka (USA) scored 93.60 winning heat three today with a masterful run that included a big H/S B/S 900 and some insane lines with the timeless style he has become known for worldwide. Jamie Neville (AUS) took the final heat of the day going super technical on the flat bar with a B/S 180 on 180 off to score 92.60 sending him in to Sunday’s final round. Guenther currently has the lead on the WWA Wake Park World Series leaderboard with the final standings all coming down to tomorrow’s final showdown.

The Open Women’s Features semifinal saw some serious up and coming talent with Arianna Cau (ITA) winning heat one with a perfect 100.00 point score, landing a T/S F/S 270 transfer to pretzel out. In heat two, Eira Jansson (SWE) came out on top with a clean H/S 540 to score 97.90 and advancing to the final round. Piper Harris (USA) took the win in heat three laying down clean lines on every rail for a final score of 95.90.

Bruno Ulott (BRA) rode away with the win in heat one of the Open Men Features semifinals with a T/S B/S 900 for a 97.40 score, followed by Sandro Furtado Brlenic (SWE) with a 92.60. In heat two, Gavin Giglio (USA) laid down a F/S 360 transfer to backside 180 out to score 97.90, followed by Jesse Jarrett (CDN) also advancing to finals with a second place semifinal finish of 85.90 points.

Closing out the day with Pro Men’s Traditional semifinals, Bene Tremmel (GER) took the heat one win with a H/S 900 and a huge 313 in the flats for a score of 92.10. Timo Kapl (AUT) was right behind Bene with a close second place finish of 92.00 points. Guenther Oka (USA) won heat two, hitting a tail grab Pete Rose off the kicker, and a back mobe 540 in the flats for a final 96.50 score, followed by Dominik Guehrs (GER) with 89.10 in second.

Orlando Watersports Complex currently holds down the top spot in both the Overall Traditional and Features Team Competition with 725 points in Traditional and 820 points in Features. Wake Nation Houston is currently holding down the Traditional second place spot with 560 points, followed by Mayan Water Complex in third with 550 points. Meanwhile Mayan Water Complex is holding down the Features second place spot with 735 points, followed by What Wake Park in thid with 570 points.

2018 WWA WAKE PARK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS PRESENTED BY NAUTIQUE BOATS KICKS OFF WITH FIERCE COMPETITION AT MAYAN WATER COMPLEX

Playa del Carmen, Mexico (November 2, 2018) – The Mayan Water Complex greeted riders with sunshine and perfect conditions for day one of the WWA Wake Park World Championships presented by Nautique Boats. World-class features paired with the pressure of competing against the world’s best, provided quite a show for the crowd for the first day in paradise. A shift in intensity from weeks of preparation and a journey to the Yucatan Peninsula gave way to the competitive spirit of the world’s best wake park athletes as they battle it out with world titles on the line.

In the Masters Men’s Traditional semifinal, Robin Leonard Jensen (DEN) threw down to finish in the top spot with a massive inside back mobe off the flats earning him a perfect 100.00 point first place score. Stephen Lee (USA) followed behind him second with a score of 85.40, and also advancing to the finals Gavin Fisk (CDN) in third with 84.60. Andreas Voss (GER) gave it his all in the Veteran Men’s Traditional semifinal coming away with the heat win and throwing a super stylish nose grab s-bend for a final score of 97.50.

Axel Paget (FRA) dominated the Boys Traditional division today annihilating the kickers and winning both his quarterfinal and semifinal heats. In the semifinals, Axel started out with a T/S B/S 720 out of the gates, to then seal the deal with a switch crow mobe off the final kicker for a final score of 97.90. Lukas Flahaut (FRA) came in second and advancing to the finals throwing a krypt for a final score of 92.10. Brett Powell (USA) took the win in heat two, another rider who also dominated both his quarterfinal and semifinal heats, proving that Sunday’s final round will be the ultimate wake park showdown.  Powell earned his first place score of 97.90 with a H/S B/S 720 followed by H/S front flip out in the flats. Also advancing to the finals, Barrett Swope (USA) came in second dominating the rail section for an 86.70 final score.

In the Men’s Traditional semifinal heat one, Bruno Ulott (BRA) took the top spot with a nearly textbook front to fakie for a final score of 100.00. Jordi Arenas (MEX) threw down to finish in the second with 90.00 and advancing to the finals. Fidel Magdalena (MEX) came away with the win in heat two with a big 313 for 95.80, followed by Sandro Furtado Brlenic (SWE) in second with 92.10.

The Jr. Women’s Traditional division saw the girls put on their best performances of the season in today’s semifinal. Piper Harris (USA) landed a huge raley, putting her on top with a heat winning score of 90.00. Melanie Staaf (SWE) scored 89.50 barely missing the top spot and sticking a H/S F/S 540 for second. Eira Jansson (SWE) took third place with a score of 77.80, followed by Clara Dandenell (SWE) in fourth scoring 75.60 and advancing to the finals.

The Pro Wakeskate Division saw the top finishers putting down some inventive runs to utilize everything that Mayan Water Park has to offer. Andrew Pastura (USA) turned it up with a kickflip and a big spin to front board on the picnic table for a heat winning score of 90.00. Sam Langley (USA) took the second place spot stomping a 3 shuv to score 70.00. Riding every rail with switch and regular shuv its, Cole Kraiss (USA) earned 60.00 and third place finish, followed by Andy Kolb (GER) with 50.00 points and advancing to finals.

The Adaptive Standing division followed suit with the ever-impressive Aaron Cutler (USA) making his competition debut throwing his signature H/S F/S 540, to earn a final score of 100.00 in today’s semifinal.  Parker Swope (USA) laid down a switch Pete Rose in the Jr. Men Traditional division, earning a score of 92.50 in semifinal heat one. Gavin Giglio (USA) brought some stiff competition throwing a H/S 900 finishing second with 90.50 and advancing to Sunday’s finals. The talented Albin Randow (SWE) threw a stylish 90210 taking heat two with 97.50, followed by Riley Dillon (CDN) in second with 86.90.

The Pro Women continue to showcase their progressive level of riding, with every event bringing out the best of the best. In semifinal heat one, Anna Nikstad (USA) rode away in first, dominating the course with spins, technical rail hits and a style of her own finishing with an 89.50 score. Jamie Lopina (USA) hit a solid switch B/S 360 off the kicker taking second with 86.50 points. Julia Rick (GER) looked flawless in heat two earning a perfect 100.00 point score with a massive 313 and B/S 540 off the kicker. Carro Djupsjo (SWE) went right out the gates with a H/S back mobe off the kicker landing her a second place finish and an 86.50 score.

“The chance to compete here at the 2018 WWA Wake Park World Championships is an aspiration for these athletes and we are honored to partner with Nautique Boats and the Mayan Water Complex to make this year’s event the best one yet,” said WWA Executive Director Corrie Wilson. “We have already seen some amazing riding on day one and the competition will only get better as we head into the weekend.”

Finishing out the first day with a bang, Wake Nation Houston currently holds down the top spot in the Overall Team Competition with 560 points, followed by Orlando Watersports Complex in second with 540 points and Mayan Water Complex in third with 505 points.
