Athletes Qualify for 59th Nautique Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament in First Masters Wakeboard LCQ

Athletes Qualify for 59th Nautique Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament in First Masters Wakeboard LCQ

ORLANDO, FL (APRIL 30, 2018) – The first ever Nautique Masters Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) was one of the most intense qualifying events ever. Riders rode behind the 5X Wakeboard and 4X Wakesurf Boat of the Year Super Air Nautique G23. This event provides riders, who missed an invite to the prestigious Nautique Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament, an opportunity to show their talents for three open spots in each of the Pro Men, Pro Women, Pro Wakeskate and Juniors division. The Masters is a prestigious event that has been running for 59 years at the beautiful Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga. The riding we saw today proved that this will be the best event the historic Robin Lake will ever see.

The Pro Men final was intense to watch as some of the most stylish and progressive tricks were thrown, all to try and get one of the coveted three invitations to the Masters. Cobe France (AUS) went out with every tech trick in the book. His mix of 720s and mobes landed him in third place with a 75.67 and secured him a spot on the podium with an invite. Nautique team rider Tony Iacconi (AUS), who unfortunately missed most of last season with an injury, came out swinging behind the legendary Super Air Nautique G23 grabbing ever trick longer than anyone else in the final. The judges took notice rewarding Tony with an 80.00 which solidified his return to Robin Lake.  Elliot Digney (AUS) may be a new name to some in Pro Men as he dominated the Jr. Pro Men series last season. His riding does the talking for him and when you go as big as he does on a double half-cab roll, you’ll understand why he took the top spot with an 83.33.

“I’m so pumped to take the win today at the Masters LCQ. I was stoked to get in the finals with all my Aussie mates, especially in such a stacked field. To take the win was something else and I am so stoked to head to the Masters to ride with the best out there at such a legendary place,” said Elliot Digney, the winner of the Pro Men’s division.

In the Pro Women’s finals, Chloe Mills (AUS) made her return to contest after missing all of last season with an injury. She landed a roll-to-blind and a KGB on her way to third place with a 72.67. Dallas Friday (USA) landed tootsie, T/S 540 and a wrapped KGB with her signature style and secured second place with a score of 79.00. Team Nautique rider Erika Lang (USA) stomped a whirlybird and H/S 540 landing her in first place with an 82.97.

“It’s always exciting to come away with a win riding against so many talented girls. It’s always an honor to get invited to The Masters and ride with the best in the world,” said Nautique athlete Erika Lang, winner of the Pro Women’s division.

Finally, the Juniors put on a show behind the legendary Super Air Nautique G23 providing the talent of the next generation. Kevin Duffy (USA) dominated his semi-final heat and continued the momentum into the finals by taking first place with a 70.67. Bryce Grey (AUS) didn’t make it easy for the other competitors landing a huge 720 and finishing in second place with a 68.97. Rounding out the top three for the Junior Men is Lorenzo Soprano (ITA) with a 65.67. The Pro Wakeskate division saw Jacob Ramsdell win and punch his ticket into the Masters.

The 2018 Nautique Masters LCQ showcased how talented every division is. Grab your tickets now to watch everyone throw down behind the Super Air Nautique G23 on Robin Lake at Callaway Gardens May 25-27 which serves as the third stop of the WWA Wakeboard World Series and Nautique Wake Series. It is guaranteed to push the progression of wakeboarding and wakeskating to a level never seen before.

Dedicated to progressing the sport from the ground up, the Nautique Wake Series puts riders first, developing the stars of tomorrow and showcasing the top athletes of today with every major event held behind the Super Air Nautique G23. The Nautique Wake Series is the only event series that gives riders of all ages, gender and skill level the opportunity to compete at an elite level.

Zahra Kell and Cory Teunissen Win the 2018 Nautique Wake Open Presented by Rockstar Energy

(April 21, 2018) The final day of action at the 2018 Nautique Wake Open was nothing short of unbelievable. Riding behind the 5X Wakeboard and 4X Wakesurf Boat of the Year, the Super Air Nautique G23, the world’s best not only went bigger than ever but showed us that in a game of going trick for trick, finesse and style reign supreme. Today’s performances went far beyond simply who made it to the top of the podium. In the end, the entire sport won as these athletes came together to show everyone exactly where wakeboarding stands.

Today we witnessed one of the most intense final rounds in WWA Wakeboard Worlds Series and Nautique Wake Series history. Fists in the air and giant smiles ended nearly every run as riders laid down performances that built pressure with every pass. Nic Rapa (AUS) stomped a mute crow 540 right out of the gate before moving on to a combination of massive bangers to finish in third place with a score of 91.00. Nautique rider Mike Dowdy (USA) took advantage of the epic pull behind the legendary Super Air Nautique G23, hitting a double indy backroll on his first trick along with a KGB 540, double half cab and a T/S double backroll for second place, scoring 94.33. Cory Teunissen (AUS) looked flawless today, taking every trick to straight bolts. Landing a perfect T/S 1080 in his first pass, Cory put down a H/S 900, crow 540, B/S 720, KGB, two double flips, and two mobe 540’s for a winning score of 96.33.

“I’m stoked to take the win today at the Nautique Wake Open! That was one of the craziest finals I’ve ever been a part of and might be my best run ever. Everyone threw down and I knew it was super close between Dowdy and I. Thank you to everyone who made this event happen and I’m ready for the next one!” said 2018 Nautique Wake Open Champion Cory Teunissen.

In the Pro Women’s final, Nicola Butler (USA) made every trip look effortless, landing an indy crow, roll-to-blind, and a moby dick on her way to a third-place score of 76.00. Landing in second place, Team Nautique’s Meagan Ethell (USA) put down a big whirlybird, a moby dick, and a clean KGB for a score of 79.00. Taking the win today, Nautique rider Zahra Kell brought a new confidence to the water, scoring 86.00 with a big indy tantrum, whirlybird, KGB and Dum Dum.

“I’ve been training hard for this one and I’m just so happy I landed my run today. I knew I had to be on my game after watching all the girls step it up out there. You know everyone is going to ride their best behind the G23 and I was confident all week  that I could get the win if I stayed focused. Thank you to Nautique and the WWA for giving us the best event series in the world to compete and push the sport forward!” said Nautique athlete Zahra Kell.

Ulf Ditsch (ARG), Luca Kidd (GBR) and Lorenzo Soprani (ITA) threw down behind the award-winning Super Air Nautique G23 in an insanely close Jr. Pro Men’s final. Ditsch was on-point all week, landing a dum dum 540 and B/S 720 to finish on top of the podium with a score of 87.00. Luca continues to refine his unique style, putting his signature touch on technical tricks that earned him a second-place score of 83.33 followed by Lorenzo Soprani (ITA) in third with 80.00.

In the Boys final Alex Albin (USA) went for it, landing a KGB, Dum Dum, and Moby Dick to take the win with a score of 92.67. In second Igor Colombo (ITA) shredded his way to an 84.67 score, followed by the amazing Brett Powell (USA) in third with 78.00.

The always exciting Men’s 1 final got the crowd jumping with Woody White (USA) throwing a big tantrum to blind and B/S 360 for the win scoring 86.33. In second Jorge-Alberto Perez (MEX) brought some style to his run landing a stale B/S 180 and a Dum Dum to score of 68.33. The third place spot went to Daniel Simon (MEX) with a score of 52.33.

“After years of success, it’s great to see the Nautique Wake Open taken to this beautiful venue in Mexico,” said Nautique President Greg Meloon. “The G23 has once again delivered the wakes that make dreams come true, pulling Wake Open titles for amateurs and pro’s alike.”

Amateur Titles Awarded as World’s Top Riders Debut On Day Two of the 2018 Nautique Wake Open presented by Rockstar Energy

(April 21, 2018) The world’s top pros set the Mayan Water Complex on fire yesterday behind the legendary Super Air Nautique G23 for day two of the Nautique Wake Open presented by Rockstar Energy. As the first wave of amateur titles were awarded to the future stars of wake, the best of the best once again proved that we are witnessing a new era in wake sports. From the first grom to hit the water in the morning to the last double flip of the day, every rider went for broke during some of the most action-packed rounds in our sport to date.

The Jr. Boys Beginner division started the day with fireworks as Hudson Haynie (USA) crushed it to score 80.00 with two stand up passes that started off with a massive wake jump and a stylish T/S indy grab. In second, Marco Colombo (ITA) landed every trick clean during his impressive run with a combination of 180’s to score 72.33. Coming in third, Cooper Lewis (USA) looked like he was having the time of his life with big ollie’s and a 180 to earn a score of 52.67.

The Jr. Girls division kept the action rolling with Alexa Guajardo (MEX) scoring 90.67 for the Nautique Wake Open title, launching big stylish grabs and an indy 180. Constanza Loaeza (MEX) had an amazing run, landing every 180 in the book on her way to second place scoring 85.00. Rounding out the podium in third, Silvanna Valazquez (MEX) scored 71.67 with a surface 360 and a stalefish grab.

Taking the top spot in the Pro Wakeskate division, Reed Hansen (USA) scored 91.00 landing a wake-to-wake shuv and T/S B/S 180 followed by Brian Grubb (USA) in second who kept it incredibly stylish moving into Saturday’s final with 78.33. The third spot went to Team Nautique rider JD Webb (USA) who decided the wakeskate looked too fun to resist, putting up a score of 67.67 with big grabs and 180’s.

The Jr. Pro Men looked unreal behind the award-winning Super Air Nautique G23, with runs that made a massive statement for the future of wakeboarding. Lorenzo Soprani (ITA) stomped a nose grab backmobe, KGB, and a skeezer 540 for the win in heat one to score 87.00 followed by Noah Wildman (USA) in second with 74.00 to advance to the final. Heat two went to Luca Kidd (GBR) who powered through his run with a switch B/S 720 and T/S B/S melan 540 scoring 88.00, followed by Tyler Worrall (USA) in second with 76.00. Joshua Swift (AUS) took down heat three with a whirly 540 and a T/S 720 for a winning score of 76.00. Making through to the final in second was Ulf Ditsch (ARG) landing a B/S 540 and an indy front to blind for 69.33.

The Pro Women were on fire, battling for one of six spots in Saturday’s Final. In heat one, Nautique Rider Meagan Ethell (USA) went massive with a melan 360 and a whirlybird for the win with 82.67 just ahead of Dallas Friday (USA) who scored 78.67. Heat two saw Nautique’s Zahra Kell (AUS) put down a mute H/S B/S 360 and tantrum to fakie for a winning score of 89.67 followed by Rebecca Gange (AUS) with 79.67. Current Nautique Wake Series and WWA Wakeboard World Series leader Nicola Butler (USA) posted the highest score of the day to win heat three with 89.67, landing a Moby Dick and a backroll to blind. Joining her in the final, Nautique rider Erika Lang (USA) hit a big nose grab H/S front flip and a whirlybird for second place, scoring 84.33.

The Pro Men’s Quarterfinal was unreal, starting the day with twenty-four riders cut to sixteen making it through to the semifinal. With changing conditions throughout the day, riders managed to throw hammer after hammer off the massive, perfectly shaped Super Air Nautique G23 wake. In heat one, Shota Tezuka (JPN) scored 88.33, going huge with a KGB and a B/S 720 for the win. Cobe France (AUS) hit a switch T/S 900 and a crow 540 to score 80.67 taking the top spot in heat two. Nic Rapa (AUS) was on point today with two stand up passes that included a 900, double half cab roll and a double T/S backroll for the heat three win with 91.67 points. In heat four, Guenther Oka (USA) looked smooth as ice, landing his switch melan pete and a nose grab wrapped T/S B/S 720 for the win, scoring 85.67.

Winning heat five, Nautique rider Tony Iacconi (AUS) charged hard, throwing a double half cab roll and a T/S double indy backroll score 90.00. Heat six went to Nautique’s Mike Dowdy (USA) with two double flips, a B/S 900 and a double grab corked 720 for 90.00. In heat seven, Damien Adam (MRI) took the top spot with a score of 81.00, hitting a 900 and 720 along with a sick indy tantrum to blind. Rounding out the day with the win in heat eight, current rankings leader Harley Clifford (AUS) rode solid as always to score 84.67 with a huge tail grab KGB and melan F/S 900.

“This season is just insane. Any time we get to ride behind the Super Air Nautique G23 it takes everything to another level and it really is anyone’s game. Everyone has something up their sleeve and I’m looking to be standing at the top of the podium this weekend,” said Team Nautique athlete Mike Dowdy.

The third day of the Nautique Wake Open begins at 9:00 a.m. CST on Saturday, April 21st with ten amateur final rounds. The Jr. Pro Men’s finals start at 11:55 a.m. followed by Pro Men’s Semifinals leading into Pro Wakeskate, Pro Women, and Pro Men Finals.
