WWA Asian Wakesurf Series: A Premier Tour Uniting Asia’s Wakesurfing Community

An exhilarating four-stop tour throughout Asia is set to unite wakesurfing enthusiasts and crown champions in the skim and surf divisions across all ages and skill levels. Building upon the success of the WWA Asian Wake Series, the new WWA Asian Wakesurf Series promises to deliver an unforgettable experience with a renewed focus on wakesurfing and the great lifestyle that surrounds it.

The series aims to provide a thrilling platform for athletes to showcase their talents while fostering community engagement. After the temporary hiatus of the WWA Asian Wake Series (due to quarantine restrictions), this eagerly anticipated series revives the excitement of wake competitions across Asia.

The WWA Asian Wakesurf Series will feature the following events:

Japan Wakesurf Open presented by YANMAR – May 20-21, 2023

  1. The series kicks off with the highly anticipated Japan Wakesurf Open, presented by YANMAR. This event will set the stage for an action-packed series filled with remarkable talent, creativity, and camaraderie.

Taiwan Wake Open – September 1-3, 2023

  1. Returning as a staple event from the Asian Wake Tour, the Taiwan Wake Open will offer both wakeboard and wakesurf divisions. Athletes and spectators alike can anticipate thrilling performances as they witness the fusion of skill and style in this unforgettable event.

WWA Asian Championships Thailand Stop powered by Seadoo Thailand – September 30-October 1, 2023

  1. An esteemed highlight of the series, the WWA Asian Championships in Thailand will serve as a grand stage for the region’s top wakesurfing talents. This event will lake place at the Siam Boat Club.

MS Wakesurfing Hong Kong Competition – October 21-22, 2023

  1. The final stop of the WWA Asian Wakesurf Series, the MS Wakesurfing Hong Kong Competition, will bring the tour to a thrilling conclusion. Champions will be crowned, and the awe-inspiring performances throughout the series will be celebrated.

Organizer, Keiko Inoki, expressed her enthusiasm for the series, stating, “We are thrilled to bring the WWA Wakesurf Series to Asia, providing a tremendous sporting experience for the people of this vibrant continent. Hosted by Family Powersports, the first stop of the Texas Wake series will hit Lubbock, May 19th-21st. Amateur & Professional riders from across Texas will come together to kick off summer with a weekend on the water.

  • Must have a 2023 WWA Membership to participate
  • Must register before entering the Buffalo Springs lake to avoid paying gate fee.
  • will pick up wrist bands at the gate if you register before Competiton day.
  • Must have wrist Band on at the gate.

Wake Park Trick Limitations

Beginner Wakeboard: 

Kickers: Frontside 180’s and Straight airs. NO inverts.

Air Tricks: Ollie frontside 180 and butters/surface spins (surface 360 allowed) NO air tricks.

Rails: NO Transfers (Transfer = greater than 2 foot step up from the side of a rail)

Novice Wakeboard:

Kickers: 360 spins MAX. Basic inverts (NO blind or handle pass inverts)

Air Tricks: Ollie 360 spins MAX. NO air tricks.

Rails: NO blind landing transfers/ollies. NO inverted transfers.

Amateur Wakeskate:

Kickers:  Frontside 180’s and straight airs. NO shuvs/flip tricks.  

Flats Tricks: 180 based tricks MAX (180 – ollies, body varials, shuvs) NO flip tricks.

Rails: NO transfers, NO shuvs/flip tricks onto. 

Amateur Women Wakeboard:

Advanced Wakeboard:

Air Tricks: Air tricks up to 360 rotations allowed. (S-to Blinds are allowed,) NO 540+ air trick.

Rails: Only basic inverts to rails (NO handle pass inverted transfers)

MALIBU BOATS WWA RIDER EXPERIENCE WEST RETURNS TO HURRICANE, UT JUNE 2nd & 3rd

Hosted by Taylor’s Boats, the third stop of the 2023 Malibu Boats WWA Rider Experience series returns to Quail Creek Reservoir in Hurricane, Utah June 2nd and 3rd. Amateur riders from across the U.S. are invited to come together for the world’s premier amateur development five-stop series for weekends focused on the next generation in wake through family-friendly instruction and competition. 

Kicking off with Freeride Friday, riders of all skill levels will receive an opportunity to ride, familiarize themselves with the course and receive tips from Malibu’s Pro athletes on Quail Creek Reservoir. Participants will also have the chance to demo the latest equipment and models in the Malibu Boats line. On Saturday the fun will continue with the WWA Regional Championships and Pro Card Qualifiers, giving amateur riders the chance to compete with riders in their region and qualify for the WWA Wakeboard National Championships and aspiring pros the opportunity to earn professional status.

WWA ANNOUNCES ALL DISCIPLINE FLORIDA STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

NAUTIQUE WWA FLORIDA STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS PRESENTED BY NAUTIQUE’S OF ORLANDO

All-New, three-day festival to offer all wake disciplines for all skill levels 

Nautique Boats and The World Wake Association are proud to announce the inaugural Florida State Championships for riders in all wake sports including all ages and skill levels to compete and have fun together on June 16-18, 2023 in Auburndale, Florida. 

“As with most of WWA’s new endeavors, this event is the start of something big for wake sports all over the country,” said Shannon Starling, president of the WWA. “We look forward to growing this program to other states. Enthusiasts outside of Florida are welcome to join and compete at the Florida State Championships and use this premiere event as the blueprint to replicate.”

This event is part of The Sunshine State Games which is an Olympic-style festival program created throughout Florida for amateur athletes and has hosted over 30 different sports and 200,000 participants since 1980. Many have gone on to fulfill Olympic dreams and championship glory. Thousands more have achieved personal goals and victories. They all have been a part of a great Florida tradition of amateur competition that symbolizes the true spirit of Olympic-style sports.
